Revitalising Church-Based Social Action
Empowering churches to move from crisis response to long-term transformation
Greater Together Manchester is launching an ambitious new programme Revitalising Church-Based Social Action, to support churches across the Diocese of Manchester in tackling poverty more strategically and sustainably.
We know churches are at the forefront of responding to community need, from food banks to warm spaces and other forms of emergency support. But too often, churches feel stuck in crisis mode, overwhelmed by day-to-day demands and unsure how to create longer-term change in their local community.
GTM can help churches to look upstream, equipping them to shift from crisis response to poverty prevention, all while keeping dignity, justice, and hope at the heart of their mission.
We can provide churches with:
-
1:1 support from our staff
-
Help with project reviews, planning, policy, volunteer training, and governance
-
Support to build local partnerships and access funding
-
Access to new monitoring and evaluation tools to track and communicate your impact
-
Opportunities to join peer support networks and the new Social Justice Champions Network (launching in Autumn 2024)
-
Training and events on social action, leadership, and church-based transformation
If your church is looking to make a bigger impact in the community, to refocus on long-term change, or wants to feel more connected and supported in the work you are already doing, then get in touch.
We particularly want to hear from churches serving communities in the most deprived areas, but we are happy to support any parish ready to engage and grow.
We’ll work alongside you, at your pace,to help build your capacity and confidence. Whether you’re just starting out or have been delivering social action for years, we’ll tailor our support to your context and aspirations.
This project is proudly funded by the Benefact Trust.
